This page contains the answers to some common questions I am asked.
In short, sooner rather than later. Parents, if you have an inkling that you or your child needs extra maths help, take time to find the right tutor yes, but aim to start tution as soon as possible. Too often people seek tuition a few months before their GCSE exams, this is unfortunately, leaving things far too late. It can take a some time to make improvements in maths.
In short, more than you might think. It is important I emphasize to you that there are no quick fixes to getting better at maths. Results are achieved through a regular and consistent approach and it can take 6 months plus to start making real progress. As a parent do not worry if someone is improving slowly, be worried if they are standing still.
In short, yes. One lesson of maths tutoring with a tutor can teach the maths covered by several maths lessons taught in school, sometimes an entire weeks worth of normal school. Plus the learner will recieve personalised learning and can ask questions and get instant feedback.
In short, no. Sharon works hard to ensure that she delivers her very best teaching to all of her tutees. However, examination results and success cannot be guaranteed as they are dependent on multiple factors.
It depends upon the student. Both methods of teaching are effective. Some students prefer that online lessons enable the to enjoy being in their own home and space. While other students prefer in-person face2face lessons.
In short, 24 hours notice is needed. Sometimes life can “get in the way” resulting in the need to cancel a booked lesson, this is okay, just let Sharon know as soon as possible. However, please be aware that if the cancellation occurs on the day of the lesson, this short notice cancellation and a cancellation payment is required. This will be £20 for a full lesson and £10 for a half lesson.
In short - no. I do help students with homework set by school/college when needed. But, will not provide students with additional homework.
Lessons are taught via an online interactive whiteboard. The board allows two-way chat, both the student and teacher write on the board working on maths problems together.
The learner will need access to a tablet, laptop or desktop. I recommend a student uses a computer that has either a writing pad/stylus pen or mouse. A good internet connection is also a must.
Highly recommend a free 20-minute lesson. This helps to check that the equipment is suitable and working.
In short, nothing. This is because hand sanitiser, pens, pencils, writing material and a calculator are provided.
Stay or drop off, the choice is yours. Do whatever makes you feel the most comfortable. Many perents stay for the first lesson then drop off their child for all other lessons. A parent/guardian is welcome to stop for every lesson, where they are welcome to watch TV or catch up on emails etc. Also, some let their children make their own way to tuition.
In short, no. Sharon is only teaching face-to-face lessons at her home in Stourbridge.
Sharon has been regularly CRB checked throughout her teaching career.

If you are interested in private tuition or have any questions, please get in touch by text, email or phone.
Free trial: Choosing a private tutor via the internet, brings its challenges. Since, it is can be difficult to determine if the learner will enjoy and learn from the tutor's lessons and teaching style. So, to combat this, I offer a free mini taster lesson.
Please be aware: The new maths GCSE exam is challenging, so if you have an inkling that you or your child may need extra maths support, try tuition sooner rather than later.
